NOTICE

When cleaning the internal side of the rear

window, pay attention to not scratching or

damaging heating wire or its connector.

Please use a damp, soft cloth to clean the air

conditioning control panel, multimedia system,

instrument panel, control panel, and

switches.

Dip a clean, soft cloth into the water or warm

water, and then wipe away the dust gently.

NOTICE

◆ Do not use organic substances (like

solvent, kerosene, alcohol, or gasoline)

and acid-base solutions, because these

chemicals will lead to color change,

taint, and peeling on the surface.

◆ Before using detergent or polish, first

please make sure they do not include

the substances mentioned above.

◆ If you use new liquid detergent, please

do not spill the liquid onto the inside

surface of the vehicle as it may contain

harmful substance. If there is any

spillage, please clean up the spilled

liquid at once in the way described

previously.

Leather Trimming inside the Car

NOTICE

◆ If stains cannot be removed with the

neutral cleanser, cleanser free of

organic solvent can be used.

◆ Don't wash leather with organic

substances at all, like volatile oil,

alcohol, gasoline, or acid or alkaline

solution, etc, as they will cause leather

to fade.

◆ The nylon brush or the synthetic fiber

cloth etc will sratch and damage the

good texture on the leather surface.

◆ Dirty decorative leather pieces will

cause mildew. Especially, keep the

decorative pieces clean and protected

from oil stains.

◆ Exposure to the sunshine for a long time

will make the leather surface be

hardened or shrink. Thus, the car should

be parked in the cool and shady place,

especially in the summer.

◆ In the hot summer, as the temperature

inside the car rises easily, objects made

from ethylene plastics, plastics, or

Precautions on Self-maintenance

In case of self maintenance, you must follow

the correct procedures in this section.

It is important to note that any incorrect or

incomplete maintenance may cause

malfunctions of the electric vehicle.

This section only gives explanations for
maintenance operations that can be easily

carried out by yourself. Some items must still

be maintained by qualified technicians with

special tools.

It is important to avoid any accidents or injury.

Please observe the following special tips.

Tips

● When the motor is running, you must

keep your hands, clothes and tools

away from the running fans. (It is best

to remove items such as rings,

watches and neckties.)

● The motor in the motor compartment,

DC-DC, motor controller and radiator

are very hot immediately after the

vehicle has been running. Be careful

and do not touch them, nor the liquid in

the pipelines.

● If the motor is very hot, do not take

down the radiator cover or unscrew the

drain plug to avoid burning.

● Do not leave any flammable material in

the motor compartment such as paper

or cloth.

● If you are working near an electric

cooling fan or radiator grille, you must

confirm that the power switch has

been turned off. When turning on the

power switch, if the temperature of the

motor coolant rises and/or turning on

the air conditioner, the electric cooling

fan of motor will start running

automatically.

● Handle the storage battery with special

care, as it contains poisonous gas and

corrosive sulfuric acid.

● The car shall only be lifted by a jack.

Do not crawl under the car; lift it with

car lifting jack or other firm braces.

● No matter whether operating on the

top or bottom of the vehicle, you must

use eye protection to avoid dust and

splashes of fluid getting into your eyes.

● Used engine oil contains potentially

harmful contaminants which may

cause dermatitis or skin cancer. Be

careful not to keep prolonged and

repeated contact with used engine oil.

Skin should be washed with soap and

water, to remove any used engine oil

thoroughly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BYD e6A AUTO Owner's Manual

Self-maintenance 5-5

● Do not put the used engine oil in the

place within the reach of children.

● Dispose of the used engine oil and filter

by some safe and satisfactory means

and do not dispose together with the

household garbage, in the sewer or on

the ground. Refer to BYD authorized

service station for recycling or disposing

methods.

● Since brake fluid may damage the eyes

as well as the paint finish, you must be

very careful in filling brake fluid; if it

splashes into the eyes, wash with fresh

water immediately; if your eyes still feel

uncomfortable, you must go to see a

doctor.

NOTICE

◆ Be careful to avoid battery short due to

accident.

◆ If the brake fluid overflows, you must

wipe it up completely, to avoid

damaging the components or paint

finish.

◆ If the brake fluid overflows, you must

wipe it up completely, to avoid

damaging the components or paint

finish.

◆ Note: do not scratch the glass by the

wiper bracket.

◆ Before closing the motor compartment,

check again that you have not left any

tools or a piece of cloth inside.

5-6 Self-maintenance

When lifting a car with jack, place it in proper

position as shown in the figure.

WARNING

In lifting, you must follow the regulations

below to reduce the possibility of human

injuries:

● Do not place any part of your body

under the car lifted by a jack. Otherwise,

it may cause human injuries.

● When the vehicle is lifted by jack, do not

start the motor or leave it in running.

● Stop the car on the flat ground, make

sure the parking brake is applied and

block the wheels opposite the lifting

point, when necessary.

● Make sure the jack is placed in the

correct lifting point. Lifting the car in

incorrect lifting point will damage the car

or the car may drop from the jack to

cause human injuries.

● When the car is only lifted by a jack, do

not crawl under the car; a car supporting

bracket is required.

● Do not lift the car if any people in it.
● In lifting the car, do not put any thing on

the top or bottom of the jack.

NOTICE

Make sure the jack is stored properly, or it

may damage the vehicle.
