*

Driving

The CMBS

TM

may activate even when you are aware of a vehicle ahead of you, or

when there is no vehicle ahead. Some examples of this are:

When Passing

Your vehicle approaches another vehicle ahead of you and you change lanes to pass.

At an intersection

Your vehicle approaches or passes another vehicle that is making a left or right turn.

On a curve

When driving through curves, your vehicle comes to a point where an oncoming
vehicle is right in front of you.

Through a low bridge at high speed

You drive under a low or narrow bridge at high speed.

Speed bumps, road work sites, train tracks, roadside objects, etc.

You drive over speed bumps, steel road plates, etc., or your vehicle approaches train
tracks or roadside objects [such as a traffic sign and guard rail] on a curve or, when
parking, stationary vehicles and walls.

stops completely.

In extremely cold temperatures, the parking brake
may freeze up if applied. If such temperatures are
expected, do not apply the parking brake but, if
parking on a slope, either turn the front wheels so
they will contact the curb if the vehicle rolls down the
slope or block the wheels to keep the vehicle from
moving. If you do not take either precaution, the
vehicle may roll unexpectedly, leading to a crash.

alerting an approaching vehicle, or may alert without
an approaching vehicle under the following
conditions:

An obstacle, such as another vehicle and a wall,
near your vehicle’s rear bumper, is blocking the
radar sensor’s scope.

Your vehicle is moving at the speed of about 3 mph
(5 km/h) or higher.

A vehicle is approaching at the speed other than
between about 6 mph (10 km/h) and 16 mph (25
km/h).

The system picks up external interference such as
other radar sensors from another vehicle or strong
radio wave transmitted from a facility nearby.

Either corner of the rear bumper is covered with
snow, ice, mud or dirt.

Refueling

Fuel Information

Fuel recommendation

Use of lower octane gasoline can cause occasional metallic knocking noise in the
engine and will result in decreased engine performance.
Use of gasoline with a pump octane less than 87 can lead to engine damage.

Top tier detergent gasoline

Because the level of detergency and additives in gasoline vary in the market, Acura
endorses the use of “TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline” where available to help
maintain the performance and reliability of your vehicle. TOP TIER Detergent
Gasoline meets a new gasoline standard jointly established by leading automotive
manufacturers to meet the needs of today’s advanced engines.

Qualifying gasoline retailers will, in most cases, identify their gasoline as having met
“TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline” standards at the retail location. This fuel is
guaranteed to contain the proper level of detergent additives and be free of metallic
additives. The proper level of detergent additives, and absence of harmful metallic
additives in gasoline, help avoid build-up of deposits in your engine and emission
control system.

For further important fuel-related information for your vehicle, or on information on
gasoline that does not contain MMT, visit Acura Owners at owners.acura.com. In
Canada, visit www.acura.ca for additional information on gasoline. For more
information on top tier gasoline, visit www.toptiergas.com.

Fuel tank capacity: 13.2 US gal (50 liters)

Unleaded premium gasoline, pump octane number 91 or higher

1

Fuel Information

NOTICE

We recommend quality gasoline containing
detergent additives that help prevent fuel system and
engine deposits. In addition, in order to maintain
good performance, fuel economy, and emissions
control, we strongly recommend the use of gasoline
that does NOT contain harmful manganese-based
fuel additives such as MMT, if such gasoline is
available.

Use of gasoline with these additives may adversely
affect performance, and cause the malfunction
indicator lamp on your instrument panel to come on.
If this happens, contact a dealer for service.
Some gasoline today is blended with oxygenates such
as ethanol. Your vehicle is designed to operate on
oxygenated gasoline containing up to 15% ethanol
by volume. Do not use gasoline containing methanol.
If you notice any undesirable operating symptoms, try
another service station or switch to another brand of
gasoline.

Refueling

u

How to Refuel

Driving

How to Refuel

1. Stop your vehicle with the service station

pump on the left side of the vehicle in the
rear.

2. Turn off the engine.
3. Push on the fuel fill door release handle at

the foot of the driver’s seat.

u

The fuel fill door opens.

4. Remove the fuel fill cap slowly. If you hear a

release of air, wait until this stops, then turn
the knob slowly to open the fuel fill cap.

5. Place the fuel fill cap in the holder.
6. Insert the filler nozzle fully.

u

When the tank is full, the filler nozzle will
click off automatically. This leaves space
in the fuel tank in case the fuel expands
with a change in the temperature.

7. After filling, replace the fuel fill cap,

tightening it until you hear it click at least
once.

u

Shut the fuel fill door by hand.

1

How to Refuel

If the filler nozzle keeps turning off when the tank is
not full, there may be a problem with the pump’s fuel
vapor recovery system. Try filling at another pump. If
this does not fix the problem, consult a dealer.

Do not continue to add fuel after the filler nozzle has
automatically stopped. Additional fuel can exceed
the full tank capacity.

The filler nozzle automatically stops to leave space in
the fuel tank so that fuel does not overflow as a result
of changes in air temperature.

3

WARNING

Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.
You can be burned or seriously injured
when handling fuel.

• Stop the engine, and keep heat, sparks,

and flame away.

• Handle fuel only outdoors.
• Wipe up spills immediately.

Achieving fuel economy and reducing CO

emissions is dependent on several

factors, including driving conditions, load weight, idling time, driving habits, and
vehicle condition. Depending on these and other factors, you may not achieve the
rated fuel economy of this vehicle.

You can optimize your fuel economy with proper maintenance of your vehicle.
Always maintain your vehicle in accordance with the messages displayed on the
multi-information display.
• Use the recommended viscosity engine oil, displaying the API Certification Seal.
• Maintain the specified tire pressure.
• Do not load the vehicle with excess cargo.
• Keep your vehicle clean. A buildup of snow or mud on your vehicle's underside

adds weight and increases wind resistance.

Direct calculation is the recommended method to
determine actual fuel consumed while driving.

In Canada, posted fuel economy numbers are

Before Performing Maintenance

Inspection and Maintenance

For your safety, perform all listed inspections and maintenance to keep your vehicle
in good condition. If you become aware of any abnormality (noise, smell, insufficient
brake fluid, oil residue on the ground, etc.), have your vehicle inspected by a dealer.
(Note, however, that service at a dealer is not mandatory to keep your warranties in
effect.) Refer to the separate maintenance booklet for detailed maintenance and
inspection information.

Daily inspections

Perform inspections before long distance trips, when washing the vehicle, or when
refueling.

Periodic inspections

• Check the brake fluid level monthly.

2 Brake Fluid P. 450

• Check the tire pressure monthly. Examine the tread for wear and foreign objects.

Types of Inspection and Maintenance

1

Inspection and Maintenance

Maintenance, replacement, or repair of
emissions control devices and systems may be
done by any automotive repair establishment or
individuals using parts that are “certified” to
EPA standards.

According to state and federal regulations, failure to
perform maintenance on the maintenance main
items marked with # will not void your emissions
warranties. However, all maintenance services should
be performed in accordance with the intervals
indicated by the multi-information display (MID).

2 Maintenance Service Items P. 438

If you want to perform complex maintenance tasks
that require more skills and tools, you can purchase a
subscription to the Service Express website at
www.techinfo.honda.com.

2 Authorized Manuals P. 533

If you want to perform maintenance yourself, make
sure that you have the necessary tools and skills first.
After performing maintenance, update the records in
the separate maintenance booklet.

Safety When Performing Maintenance

Some of the most important safety precautions are given here.
However, we cannot warn you of every conceivable hazard that can arise in
performing maintenance. Only you can decide whether you should perform a given
task.

• To reduce the possibility of fire or explosion, keep cigarettes, sparks, and flames

away from the battery and all fuel related parts.

• Never leave rags, towels, or other flammable objects under the hood.

u

Heat from the engine and exhaust can ignite them, causing a fire.

• To clean parts, use a commercially available degreaser or parts cleaner, not

gasoline.

• Wear eye protection and protective clothing when working with the battery or

compressed air.

• Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is poisonous and can kill you.

u

Only operate the engine if there is sufficient ventilation.

• The vehicle must be in a stationary condition.

u

Make sure your vehicle is parked on level ground, the parking brake is set, and
the engine is off.

• Be aware that hot parts can burn you.

u

Make sure to let the engine and exhaust system cool thoroughly before
touching vehicle parts.

• Be aware that moving parts can injure you.

u

Do not start the engine unless instructed, and keep your hands and limbs away
from moving parts.
